Neurologist Dr Smith’s research on finding the underlying causes of headaches has helped him to treat those who have in many case been misdiagnosed.
Dr. Smith is an MIT-trained electrical engineer and physician who is in private practice in Rochester, NY. He completed medical school and a Ph.D. in neuroanatomy at the University of Rochester Medical Center and holds a postdoctoral fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology. He has trained with Dr. George Engel in the biopsychosocial model of the doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Smith is board-certified in neurology.
Specialties: Dr. Smith offers a novel approach to the diagnosis of medical problems. Today the MRI scan and the OCT scan have become the virtual autopsy. Electrodiagnostic techniques are available which make the physical exam much less useful in establishing a correct diagnosis. The internet and various other modes of communication have created the possibility of investigating an illness in the same way a detective investigates a crime.
